lyrics

A tārava, tārava mai i ruga i teie kahu kurakura
Ua tu mā i te kopape tua i tō tino
E ua ineine no te fakarikihaga

Puhapuha mai te matagi Tokerau
Fakaveravera mai tō tino
E ia kotukituki to mafatu e ia puru i te hou

Ia Goe te toau e ia haiko te akau
Tei vaho te Tagutukao
E tia’i noa ai koe e tae mai

Kanapanapa mai te kamo
A kihoehoe te ragi
A tomo mai i roto ia na

Tae mai koe

INTRO (ORERO*)

Lay down, lay down, on these red velvet clothes
Washed by the currents of open seas, your body
Ready for the reception

Blowing in the Tokerau wind (wind from the North)
Heating my body
Faster heart beats, bathing in sweat

The sea tides drop and bring the reefs to dry
Outside the barrier, the Tagutukao (ferocious grey shark) remains
Waiting there, your arrival is near

Striking lightnings
Into pieces tear the skies
Come inside of her

You have arrived
