Orero (intro)
00:58
|
|||
A tārava, tārava mai i ruga i teie kahu kurakura
Ua tu mā i te kopape tua i tō tino
E ua ineine no te fakarikihaga
Puhapuha mai te matagi Tokerau
Fakaveravera mai tō tino
E ia kotukituki to mafatu e ia puru i te hou
Ia Goe te toau e ia haiko te akau
Tei vaho te Tagutukao
E tia’i noa ai koe e tae mai
Kanapanapa mai te kamo
A kihoehoe te ragi
A tomo mai i roto ia na
Tae mai koe
INTRO (ORERO*)
Lay down, lay down, on these red velvet clothes
Washed by the currents of open seas, your body
Ready for the reception
Blowing in the Tokerau wind (wind from the North)
Heating my body
Faster heart beats, bathing in sweat
The sea tides drop and bring the reefs to dry
Outside the barrier, the Tagutukao (ferocious grey shark) remains
Waiting there, your arrival is near
Striking lightnings
Into pieces tear the skies
Come inside of her
You have arrived
*(Orero is a traditional Ma'ohi oratory art, a kind of declamation transmitting a hereditary, historical or even geographical message).

ILLUMINATED NIGHT
Very very long reefs
Step by step, walking
Through the seas
And it’s illuminated far out there
It is you, you have been called
It is you, Māhuike (the name of legendary demigod who discovered fire)
Māhuike you saw the fire and fire found you
Māhuike, illumination of the night
Closer and closer I get
Kaua-e-raro-atea (region of the gods below the level of earth)
It divides seas in half
Centered abyssal pits
Is where you remain
Illuminate my night Māhuike
Very very long reefs
Step by step, walking
Through the seas
And it’s illuminated far out there
It is you, you have been called
It is you, Māhuike
Closer and closer I get
Kaua-e-raro-atea
It divides seas in half
Centered abyssal pits
Is where you remain
Illuminate my night Māhuike

*Atua-Tū-Roa (God ever existing, the eternal God)
THE ROOT OF WAR
In the deepest part of the night
A burst of open light
Made us look way outside
E Kaito (brave warrior chief)
Standing high, forward on the front
He’s vomiting fire
His voice is pounding thunder
Destroying
Gather all you people, to get closer
It’s your arm, that rises, hungry storm, disappearing sun
Hitting hitting hammer
The arm of the brave warrior
The root of war
Hitting hitting hammer
The arm of the brave warrior
The root of war
God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing
God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing, God-ever-existing
God ever existing (Huiii)
Hear our calls
God ever existing (Huiii)
We keep the brave warrior amongst
(Aaaahhhgggrrr)
Hitting hitting hammer
The arm of the brave warrior
The root of war
Hitting hitting hammer
The arm of the brave warrior
The root of war
*Atua-Tū-Roa (God ever existing, the eternal God)

POOL OF LIGHTNING
Kauae-raro-o-atea (the region of gods below the level of earth)
Open the gates, open the gates
So we gather in, all of us
Kauae-ruga-o-atea
Brightful the lagoon, brightful the lagoon
Just like the Komeri (pool of water) in Kamahi (ray of light)
It’s you, look at me
From the underneath, from the underneath
Climbing out for the outside
It’s you, look at me
Motionless at your staring, motionless at your staring
You're staring at me
And I saw the Mokorea
And I saw the Mokorea
And I saw the Mokorea
And I saw the Komeri of Kamahi (pool of lightning)
And I saw the Mokorea
And I saw the Mokorea
And I saw the Mokorea
And I saw the Komeri of Kamahi (pool of lightning)

TOKERAU RUA (one of the four winds of Kiho)
Those heavy black clouds
That bring the rain
The one that soaks the whole
Body and soul
Those winds that carry away
Fire and smoke
For the purification of the
Body and soul
Those deepest nights
Bring us the light
The moonlight
To drive us
That wind from the North northwest
Fills my sail
The sail of that boat
Carry me far outside
Tokerau-Rua, wind you are
Blown by the mouth of the Kaito (brave warrior chief)
O Kio (a God of the ancient religion)
Tokerau-Rua, wind you are
Blown by the mouth of the Kaito
O Kio
The North-northwest wind (fakarua tokerau)
Tokerau-Rua, wind you are
Blown by the mouth of the Kaito
O Kio
Tokerau-Rua, wind you are
Blown by the mouth of the Kaito
O Kio
The North-northwest wind (fakarua tokerau)

ENTER, BREATH
They are dark red, my eyes
They are moving forward, legs and feet
They are standing straight with pride, our heads
Looking out the ocean side
When the breath enters
Never the lungs were so opened
Never the veins were so defined
Fully alive, we are ready, all ready
Hail him to approach
Hail him to approach
Hail him to approach
Hail him to approach
Enter, Breath
